Meet the Kiwi Camper: Dylan Meretsky

All-star Kiwi camper Dylan Meretsky dishes on all the things he loves about Camp White Pine, and what made him want to go there in the first place.

What made you want to go to White Pine?

My brother and sister went; they said it was really fun… [Then] I went for Visitor’s Day and I thought I would love it.

Were you nervous those first few days at camp?

I felt comfortable. I had my brother and sister to help me when I needed and all the staff would help me. They said goodnight; they said good morning; they gave me hugs. They made me feel like I was home.

Tell me about some of the things you’ve learned from your time at camp.

I learned that you should work as a team, not to exclude people, things like that. [I learned that] you should share, and let people do things with you, like go to an activity together.

What would you say to someone considering coming to White Pine?

I would tell him that it’s really fun, that you can basically do a lot things. You can do free activities… and the food is really good. You can ski, you can go to ropes, you can go to glass, you can go to copper.

What do you think of the staff at camp?

I like the staff because they’re willing to help you when you need it, and they’re nice and they care. They help you change your sheets, they help you make your bed, they help clean the cabin, and they go to activities with you.
